Hail & Welcome Beloved Soul!

Abwoon ... libera nos a malo

Welcome to the Libera Catholick Union.

LCU strives to be a fully inclusive spiritual family who, in one way or another, self-identify as Primitive Catholicks. Members of LCU are interested in recovering the ancient wisdom of the Catholick traditions and applying in within our own contemporary contexts. We consider ourselves a Sophiological, Onomatodox, Hermetic Christian community. We make use of the older spelling of the word Catholic, with the letter K ending, so as to emphasize our roots oriented charism as well as our view that the Christian Mysteries are truly magickal.

Each of us have unique gifts and special challenges. Please make a mindful effort to be kind to, generous towards, and accepting of others in the community.

Being Trinitarian, we strive to model and embody the values of Freedom, Creativity & Community, which we see epitomized in the Hypostases of Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

If you have found your way here, chances are you have been marginalized and/or disgusted with both the institutional and independent expressions of Catholicism. But we are Church. We are Catholick. Thus we have the burden and the honor of doing our best to bring about healing in our world, expel demonic forces, preach the gospel to every creature, and be with Our Lord (Mark 3:13-15, Mark 16:15).

We have taken as our patron saints the great Doctor of the Church and master of so many arts, Hildegard of Bingen, and the noble Dominican martyred by the Inquisition for his prophetic spirit of inquiry, Giordano Bruno. May they pray for each of us and for our individual & collective Catholick ministries.

Patron Saints of

The Libera Catholic Union

(not even recognized as Saints in other Christian communions, despite their immense significance!)

Mind-Father:

Saint Origen of Alexandria

(c. 185 – c. 253 AD)

Explanation: Origen was an early Christian scholar, theologian, and ascetic. He was a prolific writer and one of the most influential Church fathers in early Christian theology, known for his extensive works on biblical exegesis and hermeneutics.

Heart-Mother:

Saint Egeria-Aetheria the Pilgrim

(c. 381 – c. 384 AD)

Explanation: Egeria, also known as Aetheria, was a Hispano-Roman Christian woman who undertook a detailed pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Her travelogue provides valuable insights into early Christian liturgical practices and the geography of the Holy Land.

Soul-Model:

Saint 1000 Colors (the donkey Jesus rode during the Triumphal Entry)

Explanation: The name “Saint 1000 Colors” is inspired by a Jewish legend that the Messiah will ride a white donkey. In color theory, white is the combination of all colors, symbolizing purity and completeness. This name reflects the donkey’s symbolic role in the fulfillment of prophecy and its representation. This donkey humbly carries the triumphant Prince of Peace.
